Becoming a Parent

For both my husband and me, having Damita has been such a life changing experience. I guess all parents say that at some time or the other, but unless you're in the middle of it noone can ever explain exactly what it feels like. To know that you're completely responsible for a life.. having someone so dependent on you is so truly awesome. I never imagined that I could ever be so unselfish :). Of course there will come a time when she'll start asserting her independence, in fact she already has a very good idea of what she wants and how she should get it ! In the last few days she has started pointing to things that she wants and expects us to immediately fall in with her wishes, else throws a loud tantrum..

Here's a photo of Damita and her Dad .. Still in her second month and not able to even turn over on her own.. did we imagine then that we would be chasing her all around the house, and she would be crawling so fast that we have to run to catch up with her !!

The Reason for this Blog

We decided to call her "Damita" which means Little Princess.. Her middle name is Sara after her grandmother which also means Princess but we didn't know that until later.. :).. So our little baby is a princess twice over and we hope she leads a life befitting her name(s) ...

That's her when she was about a month old..

And She was Born

If someone had told me a little more than a year ago that I would be a stay at home mom I would have laughed in their face.. but the closer it got to the date of my delivery the more it began to bother me that I wouldn't be the primary caregiver to my baby.. And finally when she was born on May 31st I was sure that she had become one of the biggest priorities in my life and working away from home was not an option for me :).. Here's a photo of what she looked like when she was born..

Everyone told us that she was such an "aware" baby.. she looked bright eyed and interested in the world around her right from Day 1.. Here she is on Day 3...

And by Day 12 she had worked out her most peaceful sleeping pose.. when she was like this, we knew that she would sleep a while and not get disturbed by any small noise around her...
